True North Gems commences exploration on ruby project

True North Gems has begun its 2007 ruby exploration program at the company's Fiskenæsset, Greenland, property after a successful 2006 season.

Logistics personnel have arrived on site to prepare the camp, office, and plant facilities. Equipment for the process plant was delivered to Fiskenæsset with two further shipments by sea container enroute from Canada and the United Kingdom.  The diamond drill is being flown to Nuuk from the company's Beluga sapphire project, Baffin Island, Canada, at this time.

The overall 2007 program objective is to deliver a Preliminary Assessment on the Aappaluttoq Ruby Project and pink sapphire occurrence, the most promising occurrence identified to date from the company's Greenland property.  The work program will consist of 5,000 metres of diamond drilling and the extraction of approximately 100 tonnes of bulk assay samples of ruby and pink sapphire mineralization.

The majority of the drilling program will include detailed drilling of the Aappaluttoq occurrence to evaluate the subsurface geology and the grade, quality and continuity of gemstone distribution.  Additional exploration drilling will be conducted on other ruby targets identified along strike on the Ruby Island Line.  Drill core will be logged on site and selected intervals will be processed in Fiskenæsset to extract rubies and pink sapphire clean rough.
