Royal Greenland wins the Seafood Prix d´Elite 2008

Gourmet salmon tournedos developed by Royal Greenland won the prestigious seafood competition yesterday at Europe's largest seafood fair.

For the third time in succession, a newly-developed product from Royal Greenland was nominated for a prize at the annual seafood event "European Seafood Exposition". Around 40 products were nominated this year, and victory went to Royal Greenland's tournedos of salmon with bacon for the best product in the main category "Food Service".

"We see this very special prize as a recognition of our efforts to develop entirely unique, new and tasty seafood products which will stimulate interest among our customers and consumers," says Jan Soinjoki, Head of Product Development. "My product development team and I have fought hard for this prize for several years. But if this product couldn't win it, nothing could. It is a fantastic product, of which we are very proud."

Praise from the judges
The judges praised Royal Greenland's tournedos for their unique taste combination of salmon and bacon, while at the same time being easy to prepare. Royal Greenland emphasises precisely the same qualities.

"We are proud that this product was developed by our very own team in Product Development," says Flemming Knudsen, COO. "It shows that we are at the cutting edge with regard to the market's trends and the needs of our customers. The product was developed after thorough surveys of current and future market demands, and is designed to maintain the high quality for which we are famous, together with the possibility of serving a fast and light dish."
