Royal Arctic Line's result of the year
The Board of Directors of Royal Arctic Line A/S has just approved the Annual Report for 2007. Consolidated profit amounted to DKK 33.4 million before tax and DKK 23.3 million after tax. In 2006, profit before tax was DKK 69.2 million and DKK 57.7 million after tax.
The Board of Directors regards the financial performance, which is DKK 8.4 million above expectations expressed with the publication of the interim report for 2007, as satisfactory. The increase in the volume of freight in the second half of the year developed more positively than expected which entailed a need for chartering extra tonnage in a relatively expensive market.
The Group’s total revenues amount to DKK 793 million compared with DKK 752 million in 2006.
Concession-based revenues, which amount to DKK 549 million compared with DKK 553 million in 2006, are distributed as follows: 68% on transport to Greenland compared with 67% in 2006, 20% on transport from Greenland compared with 21% in 2006, whilst transport internally in Greenland is at the same level as in 2006, namely 12%.
Revenues, which are not related to the concession, amount to DKK 182 million compared with 198 million in 2006, and constitute 23% of the total revenues compared with 26% in 2006. The drop is due to reduced revenues for time charters and container hire rental.
Other operating income amounts to DKK 62 million in 2007 compared with DKK 1 million in 2006, which primarily covers service contributions from the Greenland Home Rule government and Assartuivik A/S to Royal Arctic Bygdeservice A/S.
Total expenses amount to DKK 703 million compared with DKK 627 million in 2006. The increase is made up of primarily DKK 64 million of costs for calls at settlements and extensive dockings and stays in shipyards for the settlement ships. The balance of the amount relates to the development in wages and prices in general.
The Board of Directors considers it satisfactory that all subsidiaries and divisions reported a profit again in 2007.
