Extreme event documentary focuses on climate change

His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark was guest of honour at a preview of the new European Environment Agency (EAA) documentary, 'Our Arctic Challenge'. Filmed over 10 days in July 2007, the film follows an EAA team as it participates in the SIKU Extreme Arctic Challenge – an annual adventure race based on the island of Ammasalik, East Greenland.

"I was lucky enough to be a member of one of the two EEA teams taking part in the race. It was an unforgettable experience. Seeing the impacts of climate change first hand was, for all of the EEA staff involved, a deeply moving experience. As the local environment changes, the Inuit of the area are adapting - something we will all have to do,' said Professor Jacqueline McGlade, Executive director of the EEA.

'Our Arctic Challenge', a 52 minute documentary produced by Danish company Ace&Ace will be distributed to tv stations next year.
