Easier booking with Air Greenland from October 1
Air Greenland is changing its reservation system. This will affect passengers and travel agents, as well as the increasing number of people who choose to buy their tickets on the internet.
As a traveller, one of the greatest changes means that from October 1st 2007, you will no longer need a paper ticket when you travel on Air Greenland’s route network. In future you will only have to show your passport or other, valid photo-ID and give your reservation number when you check in.
The reservation system replaces today’s systems and shortens the handling time of travel agent bookings and internet bookings. The increasing number of our customers who choose to make their own bookings on the internet will receive their booking numbers at once. They will not, as they do today, have to wait for the reservation to be prepared and a paper ticket sent.
Another important change is in the method of payment. From August 1st 2007 all reservations until after October 1st must be paid for when the reservation is made. The system is built up around a “book&pay” module, which is a method that is already known from internet shopping. This method will now be introduced for all types of direct sale, including over-the-counter sales and telephone sales at the travel agents because the entire system is internet based.
The background for the system change can be found in an increased customer focus and a requirement from the airlines’ trade organisation to phase out paper tickets before January 1st 2008.
As from 1 August 2007, all reservations will be made via the new system, whilst paperless flights will start from 1 October the same year. Between these two dates, paper tickets will continue to be used. Air Greenland will rebook those reservations for which a ticket has been issued for flights after 1 October. Customers with such tickets must check in using their paper ticket.
