International prize goes to Greenland cookery book
The Greenland cookery book ‘Igaassat’ - recipes, written by Anne Sofie Hardenberg, has won a prestigious international prize. Hardenberg’s cookery book won third prize in the final of a major cookery book competition ‘Gourmand Awards’ in London in April.
Hardenberg’s book was entered in the category ‘best cookery book by a woman chef’. Cookery books from 26 countries competed in a total of 40 categories in the final.

The traditional Greenlandic recipes in Hardenberg’s cookery book are based mainly on salmon, capelin and seal. The cookery book is issued by the Greenland Publishers Atuakkiorfik.
Anne Sofie Hardenberg works to draw attention to and increase international interest for Greenland food and ingredients. She has written several cookery books and successfully promoted Greenland food in the media.
Hardenberg is also one of the ambassadors for the Nordic Council of Ministers’ programme New Nordic Food. The aim of the programme, launched by the Council of Ministers in the autumn of 2006, is to promote Nordic food culture and gastronomy, as well as design and tourism linked to food.
Through this programme the Nordic governments, with a total budget of about DKK 23 million from 2007-2009, aim to place the Nordic countries on the gastronomic map.
