Greenland, Climate Change and the Melting Ice
Greenlanders use two words to identify their land: Kalaallit Nunaat. In Greenlandic, Nunaat is “land” and Kalaallit is “Greenlanders”; The country of the Greenlanders. Kalaallit Nunaat is part of the Kingdom of Denmark called Rigsfaellesskabet: Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
Starting at 4 PM the Embassy of Denmark invites you to the event: ”Greenland, Climate Change and the Melting Ice” featuring compelling visual presentations from three of America’s most prominent scientific institutions; NASA, the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Geological Survey showcasing their research from Greenland and the Arctic.
Kenneth Høegh, who lives in Southern Greenland, will provide an insider’s look at the implications of climate change on Greenland and how Climate Change affects everyday life in Greenland.
The event takes place during a two-day meeting between Denmark, Greenland and the U.S. furthering cooperation between the parties on a broad range of economic issues relating to Greenland.
